Flinders - 38° 26' 41" S 144° 57' 38" E

Haven't driven one of these in years!

I headed to Flinders while Sean stayed in Canada - both of us to spend some time with mothers specifically and family in general.  So tucked up in my childhood bedroom, the fun begins!

The Bunnings Sausage Sizzle

The Bunnings Sausage Sizzle is iconic.  Bunnings is a hardware store similar to Home Depot and community groups run the sizzle to raise money.  Bunnings has strict guidelines so no matter who is running the show, the product and pricing is always the same.  Oddly, we always seem to 'need' something from Bunnings around lunchtime!

Hmm, that's a lot of mulch that needs spreading

Hello Cockie!

It was with great excitement we welcomed a new family member, Madison May East, the first great granddaughter for Mum and my third great-niece! Congratulations to Sam and Emily.

The newest member of our family.  Welcome Madison May!

One thing I have been struck with are the birds.  I had forgotten just how colourful and noisy they are.  Cockatoos, galahs, corellas, parrots, rosellas and all the honey eaters and wattle-birds, the gardens are abuzz with bird chatter.

King Parrot

Having my sisters in the one place is a rare occurrence these days.  So we made the most of it by doing a hike to our favourite beach where we spent a great deal of time as kids.

What angels they look!
  (How's the hangover, Girls??)

Morning hike along the cliffs of Cape Schanck

Bushrangers Bay - we spent a lot of time at this beach as kids.
There were no such warning signs when we were young so it must mean that the rips and the waves and the cliffs were not at all dangerous back then!

One of Mum's favourite pastimes is golf.  She has been playing at Flinders Golf Club for FIFTY YEARS!! At the annual awards ceremony, she was honoured with her 50 year membership award.  Just goes to show if you stick at it long enough, you will win something!

Getting ready for Christmas included ensuring everyone had a Christmas stocking.
That's 18 stockings, and none the same!

Another day, another hike.
This one along the Two Bays Trails - across the Peninsula from bay to bay!

Flinders back beach

And to stay fit, we are swimming with the Fibbers - Flinders Iceberger Swimming Group.  Braving the still chilly water, the swim from the pier to the yacht club and back is great morning exercise.  With the bonus of seeing a weedy sea-dragon or a stingray along the way.  Beats the black line of a pool!

Yes, the tide was in and I did actually swim!
