Pies, pasties and sausage rolls - eaten with sauce of course!
The sweeties...

The Australian country bakery, oh how I love them.  With their pies, pasties and sausage rolls, vanilla slices, jam tarts, lamingtons, mint slices, florentines, funny faces, chocolate eclairs, marshmellow cones and at Christmas time, mince tarts!  Every bakery has an prize-winning pie from pie competitions so numerous and with enough categories that almost every bakery can boast an award.

This is the food of road trips. The stop on the main drag to stretch your legs.  Ararat on the way to Horsham, Inverleigh on the way to Mortlake, Yarck on the way to Mansfield,  Mansfield on the way to the snow, Colbinabbin on the way to Leitchville,  Nar Nar Goon on the way to Thorpdale...

We have family scattered around the state, and yes, we do go to the snow.  Sean still sniggers at the quaint Australian-ism which means we are going skiing.

Timmies has nothing on the country bakery!

Winner, winner, chicken dinner

Winner, winner, chicken dinner (again!)
And should we get started on the vanilla slices??
