Canmore is still beautiful

...and back in Canada we land, and promptly both get sick!  A BIG thank you to Ruth and Terry for allowing us to hole up at your place while we recuperated.  Nothing like the joy of house guests coughing and snivelling.

It's hard to stop snapping pictures ...

... particularly when the weather is so glorious.

Upon recovery, it was a whirlwind of life administration - renewing passports, drivers' licence, doctor, dentist, optometrist, accountant, bank.... everything to keep the plates spinning.  We voted in the municipal election and caught up with friends and family, slipping in a 65th birthday party and a high school reunion.

Engadine Lodge, a five-star backcountry lodge, the perfect place for a school reunion

We may be a few years older, but we can still winter hike!

Mountain Sheep on Highwood Pass

Packed lunch (Thanks Engadine Lodge staff!) at the Peter Lougheed Discovery Centre

Looking through school yearbooks and photo albums of when we had hair!

During this visit, there was the potential to make history - The Toronto Blue Jays had qualified for the Major League Baseball World Series final.  The Blue Jays versus the LA Dodgers - which translated for most of the country into Canada versus USA!!

Catching up with friends at Fergus and Bix in Canmore and we all get caught up in the Baseball fever - a novelty for us!

Best of seven games - we learnt the rules and cheered for the Blue Jays, only to have them lose in the seventh game. It seemed the whole country was pulling for the Jays ... but it was not meant to be.

And so ends our time as baseball fans!

Staying with Sasha and Jerry, there were tales to trade, coffee and wines to be proffered and handicrafts to be discussed.  Sasha, a weaver,  enlisted Kate to help her thread her loom.

We never get tired of learning new tricks.  Thanks Sasha!

Hallowe'en on Broadview Road

We had a spooky evening of trick or treating back in the old 'hood, Broadview Road.  Being a cul-de-sac, it has always been a popular Hallowe'en street but it seems the bar has been raised in our absence with many over-the-top decorations and super spooky installations!

Enter if you dare!

It was great to be back and to catch up with friends and family.  Thanks to everyone who generously allowed us to land in their guest rooms - Ruth and Terry, Sue and Rick, Sasha and Jerry, Paul and Tami, Gord and Jenny - we appreciated not just the bed but the time to spend with you.
